Becki Tighe

Becki undertook a placement through StudentForce with Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council in West Yorkshire.  In the role as Graduate Sustainability Officer her duties included developing the Carbon Management and District wide Climate Change plans.  During her placement Becki attended courses run by StudentForce including Project Management and Assertive Communication and has now gained a permanent position within the council as a Sustainability Officer in the Sustainable Development team.

With the skills I learnt on the job and training provided from Studentforce I have now successfully secured a permanent position within the council.

David Murray

David was employed by StudentForce as a Sustainability Projects Co-ordinator.  David was responsible for co-ordinating projects with Tubelines, Suffolk County Council and Northamptonshire County Council.  During 18 months with StudentForce he also developed excellent links in the field of Biodiversity and Conservation and is now employed by the Council for National Park as a Policy Officer.

My time with StudentForce was a really enjoyable one.  I gained some really valuable transferable skills and made a lot of friends along the way.

Sadia Moeed

Sadia’s placement as a Land Drainage Officer within Melton Borough Council has led on to a permanent position within the Environment Agency.  During her placement Sadia was responsible for a number of capital projects and worked closely with contractors and consultants.  Sadia attended many training workshops and has now been elected onto the board of Directors of StudentForce.

As a graduate StudentForce has enabled me to be in a position of immense responsibility, which I otherwise may have not had the opportunity to experience so early on in my career. I would definitely recommend StudentForce to anyone thinking of pursuing a career in the environmental sector.

Saminder Gaheer

Sahminder Gaheer Sam has now completed her placement with East Midlands Regional Assembly working in the Policy team. In her role as Sustainable Development Officer Sam gained experience in communicating with a variety of stakeholders and delivering projects to very stringent deadlines.

My time with StudentForce has been really enjoyable, I have gained so much in a short space of time and developed in many ways.  It is also great to get such positive feedback from my line manager at East Midlands Regional Assembly and my co-ordinator at StudentForce.

Ian Tennant

Ian initially joined StudentForce in a voluntary capacity and soon showed his true potential.  He is now Regional Co-ordinator for the Materials Exchange Anglian region (Eastex).  Eastex is a FREE online information service where organisations can access information about others' redundant stock, surplus raw materials or material requirements.

Working within StudentForce was really rewarding, I took advantage of all the training they offer and am now employed in a challenging role which tests my skills and experience in very exciting ways.

Kirk Bridgewood

Kirk completed a three month placement working as a Recycling Project Assistant for Fenland District Council in Cambridgeshire. As part of the role Kirk worked with local schools to improve their recycling performance and was also responsible for tackling the hard to reach areas of the district. He developed skills in communication, project management and recording and evaluating data. Following his placement Kirk successfully applied for the role of Project Officer working on the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme at Teesside University where he will also be working towards his PhD.

I really enjoyed my three months working through StudentForce, the experience I gained in such a short space of time helped me apply for and be offered my new job. I would certainly recommend StudentForce placements to anyone looking for a career in the Sustainability sector!
