Kumba Jallow
Patron

Kumba is currently a Principal Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at De Monfort University in Leicester.

She was the first Chair of StudentForce in 1999 and subsequently between 2003-05 and was a Director for 10 years.

She became our first Patron in 2006.

Bob Burton
Chair

Bob originally trained in engineering and later in business management. Over the course of a broad and varied career, he has held senior management roles in product marketing, product design, and operations management with a number of British, American and Japanese corporations.

In 1997 he founded Back-On-Track Ltd to work with a broad range of organisations, helping them to develop their capability through the implementation of process excellence.

Bob is a Member of the Chartered Management Institute.

Mike Keynes
Vice Chair

Spent many years in personnel, as a specialist in human resource development

Work has included Training Needs identification, Training programme development, implementation and evaluation

Worked in South Africa, where he devised and managed work experience projects to help school students with their career choice.

Hilary Daniels
Treasurer

Hilary Daniels is a Chartered Public Finance Accountant and is a Past President of CIPFA. She was Chief Executive of West Norfolk Primary Care Trust, from its inception in 2000, until the PCT was abolished in 2006. She became Interim CEX for the new Norfolk PCT until a substantive appointment could be made in 2007. Prior to that she had had a varied career in senior roles in Finance in both Local Government and the NHS.

She is a member of the Professional Oversight Board, which oversees and regulates the accountancy and actuarial professions. She is a Board member and Chair of Audit Committee of the Olympic Lottery Distributor, the organisation tasked with using lottery money to assist in making London 2012 a success.

Melanie Edmunds

Melanie studied B. Sc. Environmental Life Science at Nottingham University before taking a gap year and working for the Environment Agency for 6 months followed by travel in Australia for 6 months. She returned to do a Masters in Environment and Development followed by a placements-based Masters in Leadership for Sustainable Development with placements including the Cabinet Office, BBC Wildlife Magazine and Centrica with training at the Leadership Trust.

She has been working for the RSPB for the past 5 years, initially in Public Relations communicating about the RSPB's conservation work and the last 18 months in Climate Change Policy.

 

Sadia Moeed

I graduated with an MEng in Engineering Design and Appropriate Technology in 2003.

Following graduation I worked for an educational charity called Unipal in Lebanon until 2004 when I became a StudentForce project worker as the Land Drainage Officer for Melton Borough Council.
Since leaving my StudentForce post I have been working for the Environment Agency as a Project Manager primarily in Flood Alleviation Schemes.

 

Gavin Scott

Gavin graduated with a BA in Environmental Planning and Management in 1997 and went on to complete an MSc in Environmental Technology.

He first became involved with Studentforce as a Project Worker for Rutland County Council.

Since graduating in 1997 he has worked in Higher Education and for an Environmental Charity as well as spending time working on a nature conservation project in the Seychelles. Currently he is the Environmental Manager at The University of Nottingham.

Birgit Scott

Birgit is a member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development and has worked in the field of Human Resources for the past 16 years. She is currently a committee member and CPD advisor for the Peterborough CIPD group and is the membership advisor for the Mid and North Anglia CIPD Branch.

Birgit currently works for HRg Limited as a consultant and her work involves her with a wide variety of clients in both private and charitable sectors.

Birgit is also involved in supporting the Cambridge and Peterborough YMCA Personnel Committee and works with Young Enterprise Scheme for the Peterborough area in electing the Best Human Resources Director award and judging for this award within the regional finals.

Nigel Rudd

Nigel Rudd, is a former Chief Executive of the East Midlands Regional Assembly. Prior to that he was Chief Executive at Corby Borough Council for five years. A champion of regeneration issues he has worked widely at national levels with Ministers, with regional politicians and local Councillors.

He has worked with a number of public-private sector partnerships and forums, covering economic review and policy development.

He has been an Advisory Member of the National Centre for Public Scrutiny, providing support for scrutiny work in government, health and other sectors.
He is currently a member of the Welsh Assembly Government Independent Review Panel.
