As of 30th March 2004, StudentForce for Sustainability was proud to launch its new corporate image.
None of this would have been possible without our
volunteer Ian Hurry. Ian, a professional graphic designer with 20 years
experience was referred to us by Stamford Volunteer Bureau and has proved to be a fundamental member of the marketing team.
“StudentForce lacked experience of marketing and designing but Ian’s ability to understand our needs and produce fantastic designs from our rather limited ideas was phenomenal. He helped me develop the image of StudentForce into a 21st Century charity”, said Stephanie Blackwell, Development Officer
Ian has dedicated at least 2 days per week to Studentforce since late October 2003, and has always been willing to answer all our very frequent queries by phone any time, night or day, and had this to say about volunteering.
"If you want to do freelance work, volunteering is a good way of getting back to the job market, making contacts and establishing potential clients."
Ian has not been the only volunteer freely giving his time and expertise to Studentforce. Neil
Whitter, ex Director, PERA and Roger Jupe, Group Chief Executive, Richmond Towers have also steered us towards a more business-orientated approach to marketing. Their advice and guidance has been invaluable, and will be used as the basis for our new marketing procedure.
Charities such as StudentForce are dependant upon volunteers for their time and dedication. StudentForce has been extremely fortunate in finding several who have proved to be invaluable and prepared to work hard for the charity.
We would definitely recommend the use of volunteers to any charity or business in need of short-term assistance.
