StudentForce’s
efforts were rewarded when PECT (Peterborough
Environment City Trust) Business & Environment Management Scheme
awarded them a Certificate of Achievement following a recent
assessment. Antony Gough, Project Manager of the PECT Scheme said,
“The assessors were really impressed by the efforts being made to
address environmental issues both on and off site.”
Sara
Branch, StudentForce for Sustainability Resources Manager, received
the award on behalf of StudentForce. Sara said, “This award
shows that we are committed to our charitable aim of being a
sustainable organisation. By signing up to the PECT scheme,
StudentForce has made a formal commitment to reduce the charity’s
environmental impacts by considering use of energy and water, waste
reduction, transport issues and staff training”.
StudentForce
employs 9 staff based at its Ketton office, half of these being
recent Graduates, as well as 50 Project Workers based at client
offices around the East Midlands.
The organisation also provides training and careers advice to individuals looking for work as well as promoting the idea of sustainable lifestyles both at home and in work.
The Business & Environment Scheme was originally aimed at small and medium sized companies in Peterborough, however, it’s success have seen it grow to a regional project with over 100 participating companies now signed up to reduce their environmental impacts across the East of England. Peterborough Environment City Trust is encouraging more companies to follow in StudentForce's footsteps by joining the Business & Environment Management Scheme. The scheme provides all members with an interactive CD-ROM, designed especially to help small businesses tackle environmental issues. This is backed up by a comprehensive support package including an environmental help line, site visits, reports, a quarterly newsletter, seminars and events.
